Discovering with fun the foundations of the game.

About SOCCER-ROOTS ACADEMY

The Philosophy

image2

SOCCER-ROOTS ACADEMY is a fully practical, fun based and non-competitive soccer development program, where the coach encourages its students to not only learn the basics or improve their skills, but to discover the foundations of the game in a friendly environment. The players shall learn simple tricks that would make them not only a good athlete or football player, that can kick the ball around, but one that understands the way we should play this sport.

The one-hour session develops technique, the principles of the game and very important, a love for this sport.

Soccer, in essence though, provides the following benefits:

- Keep fit and healthy

- Improve gross motor skills

-  Boosts self-confidence and self-esteem

-  Increases social interactions

-  Promotes cognitive development

- Involves teamwork

- Increases focus and attention

We also believe in practising soccer (or football as we some know it) in an environment with support from parents/caretakers/guardians; therefore, we require at least one responsible person with the player during the sessions.

We invite you to also come along with other friends and relatives for extra support to your little player

The Session

With no more than 8 to 10 children per program, sessions will run through one-hour, which include:

* 10-minute warm-up

* 15-minute technique activity

* 15-minute drill

* 10-minute fun game

* 5-minute wrap-up

Players should arrive at least 5 to 10 minutes before the commencement of the session.

The Coach

My name is Fernando, you can call me Fern or 'Coach Fern', and besides working and leading children for more than 20 years as a member of the Scouting Association, I have also coached soccer to children aged 3 to 10 as part of an established Soccer franchise in NSW for the past few years.

My passion for soccer has pushed me to develop this fun and practical academy for anyone who wants to learn a little bit more about soccer, whilst making friends and having a good time.

My skills and abilities in the game come from several soccer academies and local clubs that I attended from the age of five in Australia and South America; and also from the daily soccer games played in the neighbourhood in Santiago, Chile.

Coach Fern's Credentials

Miniroos Coaching Certificate

The MiniRoos Coaching Course is the ideal introduction to coaching, which encourages coaches to develop practices based on fun, emphasising learning by playing football.

First Aid Certificate

This training course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide First Aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, in a range of situations, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Blue Card

The purpose of the blue card is to contribute to the creation of safe and supportive environments for children and young people, when receiving services and participating in activities which are essential to their development and well being.

If you were remotely interested in knowing a little bit more about me, who could potentially become the soccer coach of your son or daughter, I thought you may also want to know that I am a parent of two girls that attend Eumundi State School in Prep and Grade 2, and also a professional in the Communications field.

Please see my resume below for specific details on my skills, experience and accomplishments in this area.
